About us

The Boisot Waters Cohen Partnership (BWCP) is a multi-skilled consultancy established in 1972. Our work is characterised over the years by its variety: freeports for the Port of London and British Land Company, conversion of historic buildings for Railtrack PLC, schools for the Central Foundation, University College School and facilities for South Hampstead High School; industrial buildings and housing for Wassall PLC and retail for AVEDA, Virgin Group, Music Discount Centres and the UK’s first apart-hotel are just examples.

Current and most recent instructions include a new use which will give a new lease of life to the Grade I church of St Mark’s in North Audley Street and a quite different arts-based new use for Sir John Soane’s Grade I Holy Trinity at No 1 Marylebone Road (both now on site); using the planning system to negotiate the relocation of the main working boat repair yard on the Thames which was threatened by redevelopment at Greewich Reach: the new £3.5m boatyard at Bay Wharf starts construction in February 2010; permission for the extension of Wise Buddah’s radio studios (for which we obtained permission ten years ago) in Great Titchfield Street for Mark Goodier.

Other recent instructions include getting permission for a ‘smoking roof’ terrace for The Boisdale Jazz & Cigar Club and restaurant in Belgravia, the first to be allowed in Westminster.

Recent successes include acceptance by the Local Plan inspector for South Oxfordshire DC of our evidence which facilitated the sale through Savills of Carmel College for a charity client following several years’ work, the successful sale of the Stockwell Street site for development by Capital & Counties and the conclusion of a saga relating to the use of artists’ studios in South Edwardes Square, which stretches back to the 60s, with the achievement of permission for converson and use as nine flats – our involvement going back to 1989!

Recent planning work includes preparing the Design & Access Statement for HTA’s Campbell Park housing in Central Milton Keynes for TaylorWimpey, now under construction and input into HTA’s winning Hanham Hall zero carbon scheme for Barratt in Bristol.

Our BWCP Consortium for Libya is involved with the new Metro for Tripoli, a masterplan for the main station complex and tourist development on the Mediterranean coast.

2010 sees us representing the London Borough of Southwark in high-profile litigation as well as the redevelopment of mews houses in South Kensington and the Hyde Park Estate.

Recent major schemes include a mixed use development adjacent the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm for Anglo Scottish Properties PLC (with First Housing Group) and conversion of a listed hotel near Baker Street into luxury flats for rent. Currently we are back in our old territory of Shoreditch looking at extending Curtain House and adjacent properties for Urban & District Group.
