UK’s first apart-hotel

UK’s first apart-hotel

Completed in 1994 for French client ARIC SA and Orion [now merged with Citadines], BWCP designed the UK’s first apart hotel. This involved establishing the ‘rules of the game’ for planning and building regulations/ means of escape.

The hotel with 128 apartments – mainly studios – has been very successful with over 90% occupancy. We have and are developing similar projects and have been assisting the original client in locating new sites.

Contractor was Relais Construction; services engineer: Watkins Payne and structure Waterman. EC Harris project management also advised the client.
